For the more discerning guest looking for the convenience of modern facilities and upmarket accommodation, our luxury safari lodge is beautifully situated, forming the setting for the perfect African sunset.
All four elegantly decorated bedrooms are en-suite, sharing a large lounge centered around a rock face fireplace, as well as a large modern kitchen with all the facilities that you would expect in a modern home and a few more! Pull the stack-away doors open and the wraparound bar connects the lounge with the covered porch and outdoor swimming pool area, as well as the undercover braai area.
The living area becomes the setting for many long nights either lounging by the fireplace, or socialising at the bar. The Luxury Lodge's uniqueness is both in its setting atop a hillside overlooking the 5000 hectares of untouched African Bushveld, and its perfect balance between world-class comforts and the African experience.

For something more traditional...
For the hunter who wants to remain close to the rustic simplicity of the African bushveld, the Lapa Bush Camp is set amidst indigenous trees, bushveld, and abundant wildlife.
The unique Bush Camp is traditionally set around the reed and thatch Boma which is equipped with a fireplace, bar, kitchen with indoor and outdoor eating area.
The Bushcamp Accommodation consists of 3 clean and comfortable thatched chalets with 2 single beds in each. Each Chalet is en-suite with its own shower and toilet.
Remember to pack battery operated shavers for razors, as our eco-friendly bush camp has no electricity but is instead lit by solar lights, oil lamps, firelight and an expanse of African stars - all to help make your African experience a truly authentic one...
Thorndale's friendly support staff also includes our chef, Francis, who offers guests a variety of delicious meals including African specialities such as traditional braais, potjies, roasts and a range of venison dishes. Meals are all complemented by a selection of excellent South African wines, local beers, spirits and drinks specially selected for your enjoyment.
